Day 8 - Animal Kingdom

Tree of Life

Today was Mothers Day and we were headed to Animal Kingdom. We had an 8:25am ADR at Tusker House for Donalds Safari Breakfast. We waited the longest for an ADR so far, about 10 minutes! The only reason was because we had to wait for Donald.  We had our photo taken with the duck and were shown a table. We got our Jambo juice. It is a mix of orange, guava and passion fruit? Delicious none the less. Then we went to the buffet. I had a few various items. All were pretty good except the bacon. The bacon does suck here! The kids had froot loops, eggs and a chocolate doughnut. The characters came around in the safari gear. We were nearly finished when they did their little parade around the dining room with Mickey. Both the kids jumped up and grabbed a maraca, they loved it. We also purchased the photo with Donald.

Once breakfast was over we headed for Kilimanjaro Safari. The standby line was already 30 minutes but fastpass return was only 45 so we grabbed FP's and headed for the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch. This was ok. The kids like the train ride more than anything. We met Rafiki and Jiminy Cricket here. The petting zoo was lame! A few goats seeking refuge in their "rest area" that was it. So we caught the train back to Africa for our trip on the Safari! I loved this ride as did mum. It was really well done.

After we left the game reserve we headed to Kali River Rapids for more FP's. We then went and did It's
Tough to be a Bug. I thought this was excellent. I loved all the special effects. It was mums favourite for the day. Brandon liked it and even Steve was impresses. Peyton did not. She was scared. Oh well 4 out of 5 isn't bad. We then headed towards Camp Minnie Mickey for Festival of the Lion King, on the way Brandon spotted some guys doing those cartoon pictures and he decided he wanted one. They came our really cute.

We finally made it to FOTLK.  Brandon like the monkeys and their acrobatic skills but the rest of it he was bored. Peyton on the other hand was enthralled. We had a seat right next to the aisle where most of the performers were coming in and out just behind the disabled section, it was a great spot as so many of the cast waved and smiled and even twirled their ribbons over Peyton. The African Princess even came over to her and said hi! I loved the show but it helps that the Lion King is my favourite Disney movie for music!

After the show it was time for.....

Kali River Rapids!!

Peyton was too short and mum didn't fancy a soaking so Steve and I took Brandon. Let's just say Brandon and I took the best seats in regards to saturation. We got soaked. Poor B cried his eyes out and it didn't help when he got a jet of water straight in the eyes. He was just the right height to cop that. As we still had 2 fastpasses and Brandon didn't want to go again, Steve and I used them. It was a great ride and a fun way to cool down on a hot day.

There will be no more photos as both out camera batteries had died.

We were getting tired but I wanted to see the parade. We staked out a spot and waited the half hour for it to begin. It was a pretty good parade but lacked a little energy. I grabbed a sandwich from the little souvie shop where we were standing. It was a tuna pita wrap and it was amazingly delicious.

We headed to Dinoland USA and took the kids on Triceratops Spin. There was no wait so Steve took Peyton on again. Brandon didn't want another go. He was pretty exhausted by now so we decided to call it a day. On the way out we stopped by Flame Tree BBQ to try their famous ribs. We all had a taste and everyone agreed they were pretty damn good. It was a nice end to a great day in the park.
