Day 23 - Goodbye Florida

Today was a nightmare of a day/night I would rather forget.

Last minute packing

We woke up and checked out of The Pointe. We thought is might be a nice idea to head to the Magic Kingdom as we had only used 9 days on our tickets. We drove to Disney and parked the car. It was around 11:30am so we had to park a fair way back. We then did the tram and monorail to the gates, only to find our tickets had expired.....

Are you fucking serious? Seriously. My fault I know. I had simply forgotten that they had 14 day validity from first use. What a disappointment. We decided to pass the time in DTD instead. We took the leisurely option of the boat back to the TTC and then went to our car. We drove over the DTD and got a park nice and close. We spent the afternoon wandering the shops and had Wolfgang Puck Cafe for lunch and frankly it wasn't that spectacular. Coupled with the fact the soda machine was out of order and we were all just tired and cranky, made for a pretty sucky meal. I do remember Peyton falling asleep on the floor. We wandered around some more and had another Ghiradelli sundae, this time we shared! We also went to Earl of Sandwich and picked up a few things for later.

We headed to the airport around 4:00pm to get there for a 7:30pm flight. Well there was some major accident on the main highway and they closed it and were diverting people off it. Well we had no idea what we were doing and we started panicking a little. The GPS kept directing us back to the highway we couldn't get on which was pretty stressful. We made it in the end and had the help of a very funny and helpful guy at the Airport. I forget his name but he helped us with unloading our car and even packing the kids car seats for transit. He was a gem.

On our way to board

Well we needn't have worried. Our flight was delayed. Luckily there were a fair few shops and an ok food court to grab dinner. The flight ended up being delayed by around 3 hours. We finally boarded at around 10:00pm and it was the worst flight of our trip. We were all obviously tired, being it was getting late and all the mishaps of the day. To top it all of Brandon threw up all over himself and the seat. Mum went to tell a flight attendant and her response was to give mum a plastic bag and a roll of paper towel. No one even came up to see if he was ok. A bit rude if you ask me. I cleaned him up the best I could with what I had and then took him to the bathroom to fix him up a bit better. He then settled to sleep for the rest of the flight while me and all the poor although nice (sympathetic looks) people had to deal with the smell.

The flight landed around 1:00am LA time which had our body clocks on 3:00am Florida time. We were exhausted. Baggage claim was a blur and I don;t think I remember much until the freezing cold air while we waited for a shuttle to the rental car depot. I remember by then it was 2:00am and I was fitting car seats and Steve was loading the car while mum took the kids into the toilets to put on warmer clothes.

Finally we were on our way and who knows how long it took us to get to Anaheim but we made it. Once in Anaheim we had to find our condo. Do you know how hard it is to do this in the dark with no map and just a condo number. In a place full of identical condos. Lets just say I took a good 15 minutes of wandering around. We dragged our stuff and the kids and dumped them in bed. I did throw all the vomity stuff in the washer as I could smell it through the plastic bag :P

At around 3:30am (our bodies on god knows what) we finally got to sleep. We defiantly slept in the next morning.
