Day 21 - Castaway Cay

Today was Castaway Cay day. Disney's own private island for the exclusive use of cruise guest, this place is paradise! The best beach day ever!

We woke up to the boat approaching Castaway Cay. The view was spectacular. What was even more spectacular was eating a delicious Cabana's breakfast with this to look at.

We got all our beach stuff together and headed off the ship. It was a short walk to the trams to transport us down to the family beach. There were some character greetings along the way and I think we got some photos with Mickey and Goofy. I will scan them later. We easily found a nice possy on the beach with loungers and chairs to ourselves. With umbrellas and palm trees shading us it was perfect.

We hired tubes and float mats and a snorkel kit. The water was quite warm and crystal clear. We spent the day swimming, snorkelling, digging in the sand and I spent some time lounging reading my Kindle. Lunch was a buffet with burgers, hot dogs, chicken, salads, cookies and fruit salad. Also they had plenty of soda fountains and self serve soft serve ice cream. There was a few shops to peruse and I bought a straw hat and some magnets.

It was such a relaxing day. Beautiful weather, gorgeous sights and very well set up. I cannot recommend this place more. You seriously need to go on a Disney cruise for Castaway. I now know why they are so proud of the place and why people rave about it.

By late afternoon we decided to pack it in and head back to the ship. We went back to the room for showers and the everyone watched a movie while I started packing. The bags had to be out by 10:00pm. I organised payment of our tips as well. We also went and rebooked for the same date in 2012, except we decided we needed 7 nights!

Dinner was at Animators Palate. I would probably say it was the least favourite of the three restaurants although it wasn't bad I just don't remember much of it. I do remember talking to Crush and Brandon surfing the EAC or something. Also Bruce the shark kept swimming by scaring Peyton under the table for most of the meal. (She developed her fear of sharks thanks to Jaws at Universal!)

We dropped the kids at the club one last time and headed to the show, Disney's Believe. Mum skipped it as she was so tired from our big beach day. Steve and I really like this show. It was really well done.

We looked around the shops and got some last minute souvenirs then picked the kids up from the club and handed in their ID tags/bracelet thingos.

We went to sleep with our alarm set for early the next morning as we had to be at breakfast by 7:30.
